Lifting Sunken Concrete Steps and Porches
Front steps that have pulled away from the house, tipped toward it, or dropped below the door threshold can often be lifted and leveled with polyurethane foam, without tearing them out. We inject foam underneath to fill the voids and raise the steps back into position. You can use your steps right away.

Why steps and porches sink in Utah
Downspouts and roof runoff
They often empty right beside the steps and soak the soil underneath.
Freeze-thaw cycles
Gaps open under the heavy steps, which settle and tip toward or away from the house.
Clay and bench soils
Soils across Utah County shrink, swell, or wash out as moisture changes.
A real fall risk
Uneven steps are more than an eyesore. They're a fall risk for everyone who comes to your door, especially when wet or icy.
How polyurethane concrete lifting works
-
We drill small holes, about 3/8 inch across (roughly the size of a dime), in the sunken slab.
-
We inject high-density polyurethane foam underneath.
-
The foam expands, fills the empty spaces under the slab, and lifts the concrete back into position.
-
We patch the holes.
-
You can use your steps right away, as soon as we finish.
We use a custom-made 3 lb hydrophobic polyurethane foam, made locally by Utah Foam Products: made in our area, for our area. It's light, so it doesn't add much weight to the soil next to your foundation the way heavy mudjacking slurry can.
What step and porch lifting costs

Minimum job charge: None
Replacing steps means demolition, forms, a new pour, and cure time. If your steps are solid and have simply sunk or tipped, lifting keeps them. If they're crumbling, we'll tell you replacement is the better choice. Your exact price comes from a free on-site estimate. For what raises or lowers the price, see our Utah concrete lifting cost guide.
Our 3-year warranty
Every lifting job comes with a 3-year warranty. If a slab we lifted settles more than 1/4 inch within three years, we come back and lift it again (a fuel fee may apply). Lifting doesn't change the soil, so we'll also point out drainage problems worth fixing. Read the full warranty.
Lifting steps in winter
Icy, uneven steps are a real hazard. We lift only when it's above 40°F and the slab is clear of snow and ice. If a problem shows up mid-winter, we'll schedule the next day that meets both conditions.
Steps and porch FAQ
Can you lift concrete steps that pulled away from the house?
In many cases, yes. If the steps are still solid, we inject foam underneath to raise them back toward the house and level them.
Can you fix just one step or a small stoop?
Yes. There's no minimum job charge, so small jobs like a single stoop are welcome. We give you a price after looking at it on site.
When can we use the steps again?
You can use your steps right away, as soon as we finish.
What if my steps are crumbling?
If the concrete is crumbling or broken into many pieces, lifting won't give you a solid surface. We'll tell you honestly if replacement is the better option.
